Dispatch Trio Named Police Employees of the Year

SUISUN CITY — Suisun City Police Chief Ed Dadisho has announced selection of Dispatchers Delorus “Dee Dee” Golden, Keetra Welling and Amber Kent as the Police Department’s Employees of the Year for 2006.

“Together, these three ladies proved to be the No. 1 reason our Dispatch Center was not outsourced, even though it was 66% staffed over the past 18 months. It is simply amazing to watch these three ladies operate as they often work solo while handling front counter traffic, and multiple emergency and non-emergency radio and phone calls,” Chief Dadisho said. “We had to consider them jointly for what is normally an individual award because they performed together as one.”

Some of their more notable accomplishments include:
  • Training four new dispatchers in a six-month span, while performing primary duties in the 911 Center
  • Self-Help Renovation of the 911 Center in anticipation of new ergonomic workstations.
  • Never faltered under the pressure of operating with an aging phone/radio system that began to fail on an increasingly frequent basis.
  • Adapted to significant cultural changes as the Department migrated to a more paperless environment
  • Were the calm in the storm as they dealt with a workforce of patrol officers in which 60% have less than 2 years’ experience
  • Successfully collaborated on a plan that led to a smooth transition from the Sheriff’s Office dispatching for Suisun City from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. to the Suisun City Police Department once again running a 24/7 Dispatch Center on Jan. 1, 2007.
